Sustainability is imperative for today’s business and concern for environmental impact. A very important step for our company is obtaining the EPD certificate, the Environmental Product Declaration, which quantifies the environmental information about the life cycle of the product.
This official declaration represents a transparent and reliable way of assessing the impact on the environment. Our priority product groups for certification are PE, ARMO, PP Strong, PP Corrugated, PVC pipes and fittings, with plans to expand the list.
Pestan is among the first companies in Serbia that has EPD declarations in the area for the mentioned product groups, which is very important in cooperation with our customers, especially for exports to Scandinavian countries and other European countries.
This EPD has been verified against ISO 14025 by an independent third-party verifier by reviewing the results, documents and compliance with the reference standard, ISO 14025 and ISO 14040/14044, following the process and program checklists.
EPD uses a life cycle assessment and the environmental impact of a product during its entire life cycle, including the stages of processing, production and packaging, transport, installation and end of life. The EPD includes details of the product’s raw material and energy consumption, waste generation and emissions to air, soil and water during its life cycle.
EPD declarations help in the evaluation and optimization of the green footprint and reduced CO2 emissions, where a significant impact is created by the rooftop solar power plant, installed on the roofs of the halls of the Peštan production and logistics center. They also help us optimize production and supply chains to achieve environmental goals.
